Wallowa Land Trust Application for Accreditation Renewal
Stakeholder Notification/Public Notice
September 2, 2020
The land trust accreditation program recognizes land conservation organizations that meet national quality standards for protecting important natural places and working lands forever. Wallowa Land Trust is pleased to announce it is applying for renewal of accreditation. A public comment period is now open.
Wallowa Land Trust was first awarded accreditation in 2015. Accreditation renewal takes place every five years. This process means an independent, third-party analysis and assessment of Wallowa Land Trust to ensure we are meeting the highest national standards for land conservation and stewardship in perpetuity. The accreditation seal is a mark of distinction in land conservation. It is awarded to land trusts meeting the highest national standards for excellence and conservation permanence. Each accredited land trust completes a rigorous review process by an independent third party and joins a network of organizations united by strong ethical practices. Wallowa Land Trust is proud to be a part of this trusted network of land trusts who have demonstrated fiscal accountability, strong organizational leadership, sound transactions and lasting stewardship of the lands they conserve.
You are invited to participate. The Land Trust Accreditation Commission, an independent program of the Land Trust Alliance, will be conducting an extensive review of Wallowa Land Trust’s policies and programs. The Commission invites public input and accepts signed, written comments on pending applications. Comments must relate to how Wallowa Land Trust complies with national quality standards. These standards address the ethical and technical operation of a land trust. For the full list of standards see http://www.landtrustaccreditation.org/help-and-resources/indicator-practices
